Katie's debut as a stage performer was at her preschool's Thanksgiving day celebration. It was a precious time listening to 30-50 year old women sing songs while most of the kids stood there with blank stares on their faces or pointing at their moms and dads and grandparents in the audience.
This is Katie's class filing out of their room headed to the risers to take their spots in front of the crowd. Katie and Cole have their fingers over the mouths to remind them to be quiet.
Each class had their own head-wear that identified their age group. Our kids were indians of the construction paper tribe. There were also boy/girl pilgrims and indians from the neighboring feather and glitter tribes. A few turkeys were seated in the front row.
In all seriousness, the kids did a great job signing. The teachers had their hands full getting the cooperation of 1-4 year olds, but they managed magnificently! Katie sang for a few of the songs and did the motions to most of them - but at least she was all smiles and stayed put. That was the most I was hoping for.
Here's one of our superstars after the performance waiting on his Thanksgiving feast. I had to snap the picture when he wasn't looking, otherwise, I would've been blocked by his forearm!
And finally, here's Katie with Grandma Jones. She's telling her about how someone tried to stand between her and Cole and she moved them to the other side. Apparently no one is allowed to stand between them.
It was so fun watching Katie be a part of her school and participate with the other kids. She seemed to enjoy being up there and talked about it the rest of the day. She even gave me a solo performance of one of the songs later after I got back home from work.
