What a Week!

So we survived our first illness for Katie. She ended up catching a cold from me last week and was just pitiful. She ran a fever for a few days and didn't sleep well. She seems to be over the fever and fussy part but she still has a gunky (official medical term) cough.

We started rice cereal last week without much ado. She didn't really seem to care one way or the other about it. We are feeding her at dinner time with us and we will add some vegetable next week.

We met with a realtor Saturday about potentially putting our house on the market. The upside of the meeting is that our house is SPOTLESS and the downside is that we are both bummed about realtor fees...But we're still excited about the potential to move later this year.

Doug and I kept the 2 year old (some are 3) nursery yesterday at church and after what I will call the movement incident, I am so glad Katie is still a baby...Not wanting her to grow up any time soon!

Katie is really close to sitting up on her own. She needs little support from us and after watching her cousin Cole sit so well this weekend, she's decided to put her mind to it and sit up soon! We will keep you posted!

Baby Dedication

Katherine Austen Jones was dedicated to the Lord by her parents on March 15, 2008. It was a fun filled day with family and friends. The service was a little nerve wracking as it was filled with 36 babies to be dedicated and countless other babies who were along for the festivities. Needless to say, it was not quiet in the sanctuary. Dr. Lincoln did the responsive reading with the parents. He dedicated me with my parents when I was a baby so it was quite a treat to have him help us dedicate Katie.

The Boozers and Clarks also dedicated their babies (Caleb and Madison). It was fun to do this together and picture our babies growing up together in the church!

This is my mom and dad with us. We had loads of family come into town and come to the service that day. All 4 grandparents were there and several of my uncles and and Doug's siblings and their families came too.

This is our sweet little Katherine blowing bubbles. I think her brain was mush after the service too. She was on sensory overload being around all of the babies.



Katie's cousin Cole was dedicated earlier in the day. Cole looked absolutely adorable in his little man suit! He was such a trooper all day and behaved well at both services!

4 MONTHS

Where has the time gone? When I first had Katie, I got so tired of hearing people say "this time just flies by" because I sort of wanted it to fly by because it was really hard when she wasn't doing anything but eating and sleeping.

So now, she's 4 months old and it seems like she does something new almost day. I love her more every day and I miss her being so small and wonder what things I missed paying attention to because I wanted her to do something BIG! So, as proverbial as it sounds, soak up every minute of their little lives because the time just flies by!

We celebrated her 4th month of life with a well check up with the doctor. Here are her stats:

Head 40 cm - 67th percentile

Weight 14 pounds, 1/2 ounce - 78th percentile

Length 23 1/2 inces - 44 percentile (If you recall, she was in the 91st percentile at 2 months, so she's more likely to be a point guard at this point as opposed to a center.)

She celebrated her 4th month of life with a new developmental milestone - SHE ROLLED OVER! She was on her stomach and rolled over to her back. She did it 3 times! We were around a bunch of family and everyone just got so excited!

She's sitting so much better these days - very close to sitting on her own, she needs very little support from either me or the boppy. (can't get the picture to rotate, sorry!)

She talks so much - mostly when she first wakes up - my mom thinks she's telling us what she just dreamed about. She has the most precious little voice and I love hearing her just babble on and on.

We've gotten a few laughs out of her, but no huge belly laughs. We're getting there though.

She is the light of our life and I love watching her grow into her personality every day. She is looking more and more like her dad and acting more and more like her mom! Watch out world!

EdVenture Adventure

The second tuesday of every month is family night at EdVenture, a children's museum. We got in for a dollar and the babies were free. Lindsay and I took Cole and Katie and had a good time. They met Eddie, the biggest kid in the world. Once they get older, they can go crawling through Eddie and learn all about his brain and other organs! (Dylan, you should go to EdVenture next time you come visit!)

The babies both did well and seemed pretty enamored with the museum. Lindsay and I enjoyed thinking about how much fun they will have there when they get older. It's so nice to have this place here in Columbia!

Spring is Here! (Almost)

We had a great weekend! We went to Sesqui Park with the Clarks and Boozers! The weather was so nice and all 3 children behaved! Well technically, Caleb and Madison slept, but that's behaving in my book! And miracle of miracles, Katie enjoyed the outdoors and was happy as a clam!

Dear Abby,

I'm a new mom who is trying to balance her husband with her child on a nightly basis. It seems like our child insists that we hold her ALL EVENING long leaving one of us to fix dinner while the other holds her and then we proceed to toss her around while we take turns eating. We're both at our wit's end and need some help.

Dear Mom -

Have you purchased a high chair? Well then, put the darn thing together and plop her in it while you eat! Give her cool toys to look at and she may stay entertained the entire time!

WOW! Abby was right (ok, we didn't really write to her). But Katie is loving the high chair and Doug and I are loving getting to eat together without having to hold her.

She's entertaining herself and may be getting accustomed to sitting there since its close to time to start feeding her things like rice cereal! She's enjoying reaching for her toys and chewing on her cloth diaper! Her favorite one is the one that feels like a washcloth - it was a gift from "Aunt" Lauren!

My Gym!

Last Wednesday, I had my first 1/2 day at work (I now get every other Wednesday off) and I took Katie to the My Gym in Sandhills. Lindsay and Cole and Shelley and Caleb met us there and had a blast! There was some organized playtime with great music. We also had a chance to wander around the gym and explore the toys. Lindsay and Cole showed us the ropes since they had been before. We played on the trampoline and swam in the ball pit.

Katie enjoyed the balls at first, but then she flipped out! I am glad I snapped this picture before the crying began. She quickly calmed down and asked to go roll around some more. Here's Shelley and Caleb after dancing together!

We're headed back to the My Gym tomorrow. We can't wait to hear the songs and dance some more! See you there, Cole!
