Creature of Habit

My child loves a routine! This can be good and bad - good because she is easy to train to do something a certain way, but bad because she can get start to expect something specific after having only done it once! This is also good because I can quickly tell what "habits" she is picking up from her days spent with my mom! For instance - my mom let her run around in the backyard without clothes on yesterday and this morning she absolutely REFUSED to put on clothes after changing her diaper.

But lots of her routines and habits are great and will serve her well as she learns to function in a structured school setting one day. Since the summer days heat up so quickly here in Columbia, my mom tries to get outdoor time with the girls early in the day. While at the Clark's house, they started having morning snacks out on their deck. We have a back patio, but no real patio furniture - just a slab of cement. So my mom bought her a little plastic adirondack chair/table set. They go out most mornings and have their snack there. Katie even occasionally pitches a fit to have breakfast out there too! As it cools down in the evening - we try and go back outside to have another snack and use the table again!

She loves her table - and loved to pose by it as we took our "Thank You for the table Grandma" pictures!

Oh my gosh, where'd she get that from? Love it!

...usually grandchildren know that grandparents treat them differently and let them do things "in a different way" than Mom and Dad! Katie has been sworn to secrecy on some of these "allowances" or so I thought!
