4th Times the Charm

On December 22, I had my 4th knee surgery...2nd on my left leg. This knee surgery was by far the simplest of the four I've had which I am really thankful for considering I'm much older than I was before and now I had a two year old to chase around!

My least favorite part of surgery is the anesthesia. It makes me sick after waking up. It also makes me say funny things, some of which my husband chose to post on facebook.

I'm certainly no "David after Dentist" sensation, but I think a video camera would've made these conversations much more memorable.

Conversation #1 between me and the recovery room nurse:
Me: (teeth chattering)
Nurse: Oh honey, you look like you've got the shakes. Anesthesia does that sometimes.
Me: Yeah, I've got the shakes and not the good kind either.
Nurse: (perplexed) The good kind?
Me: You know, the hippy hippy shakes. (Shoulder shimmy ensues)

Conversation #2 between me and the surgeon when he comes to my recovery room to tell us how surgery went
Surgeon: Oh good, glad to see you're eating some crackers.
Me: Are you calling me a cracker?

I'm told those are the highlights of the post-anesthesia talk, but who knows what they're not telling me!
