The 4th Weekend

We headed to Mt. Pleasant/Charleston for the weekend of the 4th of July with friends. Our first stop (after the grocery store) was to a great little water park that had perfect areas for little kids. All of the kids enjoyed the splash fountains and slides! And the dads and the moms got to take turns going down the big slide! We somehow mastered the study of physics and figured out how to make ourselves FLY down the slide!

After the park, we headed back to make dinner - bbq chicken and corn on the cob with pasta salad. We also made a flag cake and attempted to take a picture of the kids around it - but they were exhausted and none of the pictures gave the flag cake justice!

On Sunday, we headed out the beach in Mt. Pleasant for the morning. Katie enjoyed this beach much more than NMB but I'm not sure why - maybe because she had some kids to play with or perhaps because it was about 15 degrees cooler than the week before!

After some much needed naps for the kids, we got all dressed and headed to downtown Charleston for dinner at Hyman's.

Next was a LEISURELY stroll through A LOT of Charleston. We headed down to the waterfront and hung around for a while and then back to the car. I think we successfully walked off our extra basket of hush puppies!

(I like to think this picture is Katie trying to say the Pledge of Allegiance.)

Finally we made our way out to Isle of Palms for the fireworks. It was a great show but Katie wasn't a huge fan and said "bye bye" most of the time letting us know she wanted them to stop or us to leave!

It was a great weekend with friends and we still had another day off of work when we got back! I could get used to 3 day weekends!
