We weren't there 5 minutes before Katie clearly had the hang of things. Bend down - look for red berries...

Inspect them...If they pass the test, pick them!

Drop them in the bucket! (As you can see - many of them passed her rigorous test!)

Jessica and Maddie filled their buckets just as quickly. They found some super big strawberries and Maddie even sampled a few! (Katie sampled more than a few - I discovered this when I got home and there were many strawberries with tiny little baby bites out of them!)

We ran into the Smoaks while we there and Chase and Jacob had worked up quite a sweat filling this bucket with strawberries!

The kids had had enough of the picking - and just wanted to run the rows...It was super hot outside so the chase only lasted one row!

The girls cooled down with some Blackberry/Strawberry Slushie/Juice. It was a nice ending to a nice morning!

We had lots of strawberries when we got home so I got them washed and ready for freezer bags. Then I read online that if you're going to freeze them, you shouldn't wash them first. So, I was worried that if I froze them, they would be ruined so I gave a hefty portion to The Callaways (who were visiting for the weekend) and to my parents. Then I used what was left to make a Strawberry Pie and served it up with my dad's barbeque on Memorial Day.

That was such a fun day! We finally used all of our strawberries two pies later and many after dinner snacks! : )
