End of the Road

So long 2009, hello 2010. Although 2010 is starting in much the same way as 2009 with near record cold temperatures, I am quite sure that 2010 is bringing with it a bag full of goodies all its own. But for memory's sake, here is a rundown of some important momemts from 2009.

I started off the year with a girl's weekend trip to the beach where temperatures were the coldest on record for the past 20 years.

Katie had her first walk on the beach, although it only lasted mere minutes.

February - we held Doug's dad surprise 60th birthday party. Good family pictures as many family generations were all present!

March - Baby Dedication at Shandon - the same pastor who dedicated me also dedicated Katie! It was the first time he'd done that!

April - hosted Easter at our house with friends and family. Katie and Cole made two really cute Easter Bunnies!

May - traveled to Virginia for a family reunion with Doug's mom's side of the family who are all from Pennsylvania. Katie got to meet her cousin Jamie who was born one week before her! This photo makes me laugh because, not only did we pack the jumperoo and take it with us to Virginia, but we unloaded at the park where we had our family cookout. We were so addicted to that thing!

June - another trip to the beach for Katie! As I type this, I long for the temperatures that made my little girl's cheeks so red! It is stinkin' cold this week!

July - we packed up our house and turned it over to the new owners! Katie helped pack up her things so the workload was evenly distributed. Another picture of her in our empty room was one of the most commented on posts I had from last year. She looked so sad and dejected but it was really just her playing with her feet!

August - Another road trip, but this time to Pennsylvania for my brother's wedding. Katie had a Field of Dreams moment as she explored the corn stalks. She came back from the trip wanting us to build a baseball field in our backyard.

September - Katie started "school" at Shandon one 1/2 day a week. This was her on her first day. She loves going there and I love the crafts they make each week! And I am sure my mom loves the little break!

October - I am such a slack mom - I never posted any pictures of her 1st Halloween - she was a ladybug, and a darn cute one! We celebrated with a Halloween party at my cousin's house who had their house decorated superbly for Halloween! We may tackle Trick or Treating next year.

November - besides the obvious ONE YEAR BIRTHDAY - we also went to see the lights at the zoo when Gabriel and Nancy were here for Thanksgiving. If you look really carefully, you can see how close Uncle Gabriel gets Katie to an elephant!

December - we welcomed our 3rd nephew into the world. Chase Alan DeVoe was born on December 2 and we took a too quick trip to Raleigh to meet him after he got home from the hospital!

Thank you 2009 for a wonderful year, but if you don't mind, 2010 is here and you need to get packing.

Wow! You can really tell time moving when you see it thru the growth of a little girl, huh? I love all of the pictures and love the captions too!
