Katherine went for her 8 week visit on Friday. However, on Thursday she finally caught the cold that I had had for over a week. The doctor heard her little cough and opted out of doing her vaccines. Instead we went were sent home with a nebulizer and some albuterol breathing treatments for the weekend. We also had to skip our trip to Raleigh in order to get her better. We went back to the doctor today for her shots and she was quite a trooper. She cried when she got her shots for only about 10 seconds. She let me hold her and took her pacifier and calmed right down and even went to sleep by the time we were done checking out.

Here are her 8 week stats:
head 39 cm (86 percentile)
length 22 3/4 inches (91 percentile - I fully expect her to taper off on this stat)
weight 11 lb 3 oz (79 percentile)

Katherine will be 2 months old on Wednesday and I can't believe how the time had passed. It seems like my life has been lived in 3-4 hour increments for 8 weeks but every day seems so different. We have had Doug home a lot over the holidays and it was so nice to spend time together as a family.
Here are some of my favorite things about Katie:
She is so easy going when it comes to things I would think would normally annoy her. For instance she loves getting her diaper changed. She had her first smile on the changing table and just hangs out there while we change her diaper. I think she may like it because Doug did such a good job painting it or either because of the great diaper change song I made up for her. She also loves her baths. She never cries and just enjoys staring out the window or watching us work.
Katie loves lights - she gets totally entranced by them and will look at them longer than she can handle most other activities.
She loves her daddy! She recognizes his voice when he gets home and looks at him and smiles. It totally melts both our hearts.
Katherine has changed so much this second month and I can't wait to see what the 3rd month holds. I most certainly don't want to rush the 3rd month since that's my last time with her before going back to work. YUCK! I am already dreading it.
Katherine, I love you!

I'm so happy for you and Doug, and I hope this last month goes by extra slowly for you!
I am so grateful that you put your feelings into words and I know you and Doug will treasure these photos and memories one day...
Katherine is a happy baby and really fusses only when tired or hungry-kind of like me!
I'm glad Katie is feeling better and was able to get her shots. Great pictures - she's so cute!
