Making a New Friend

As the arrival of baby brother approached, Doug and I wanted to spend some special time with just Katie. We contemplated going away for a night together with her but most of our weekends were already full. So we settled on a special lunch date and then a trip to the mall to Build A Bear. Katie loves stuffed animals beyond what is probably normal so we thought this would be so fun for her! We went after church one Sunday and she had a great time picking out her animal and then "making" it. This place did a great job making the entire experience so real for a child.
Looking through some of the already-made animals and trying to decide what she'd make

Found it! She picked out a brown puppy with some white spots and the absolute softest fur ever!
Adding the stuffing...Katie kept her foot on the stuffing pedal while the lady made sure  it went in right.
Putting the heart inside - Again, the workers made this part really fun. Katie had to do lots of things to the heart including sniffing it before it could go inside!
The Grooming Station
The personalization station - we created a birth certificate with all of the puppy's information
TaDa! Here he is - Squishy Jones!
Katie picked out some accessories for Squishy including a leash and collar and a dog house.  The dog house was kind of pointless since he sleeps on her bed every night. Squishy was introduced to all the other animals in the house and he fits in just fine!

She has so many animals because word gets around that her room is the place to be if you want to be loved individually and snuggled with at night!
