Back in the fall, I got this great little kitchen from the Tot Trade. I saved it for Katie's birthday and hid it in the garage for a few months. My mom bought it from me to give to her and then I had a friend make her a dish towel with her name on it. A few people gave us some pots and pans for her birthday too and we've had a blast cooking in the kitchen!
She and Doug have become experts on cooking cake and chicken - those are Katie's requests. She puts her pan in the oven and turns the dials and then they count to three and yell, "DING!" (It should be noted, Katie only says two when we're counting - she knows that number well now that she is 2!)
We don't actually have any play food so it's really neat to see how much pretending Katie is capable of doing. She feeds Doug cake and chicken with the measuring spoons and even blows on them to make sure it's not too hot.
She has the concept of HOT down very well in her mind but it doesn't always come out right. Take the oven mitt picture below - she knows the pan is hot coming out of the oven, so she wears the mitt. But notice what hand she uses to hold the HOT pan! Too cute!
