My grandmother died the day before Easter back in 2007 and Easter has been understandably hard for my mom's side of the family ever since. I like to host an Easter dinner at my house and invite the family and just get together and celebrate life that we have in Jesus Christ. We also invited some of our friends who don't have local family - they were in charge of desserts and they really brought it! I'm still enjoying homemade cheesecake and strawberry shortcakes a few days later! I didn't get any pictures of the actual festivities - I got too caught up "hosting" and "visiting."
I made some bunnies with a bible verse on them for each guest to take home. The verse is a reminder of the meaning of Easter - that God fulfilled his promise to resurrect Jesus and allow us all to have eternal life through his death and resurrection. I got the bunny idea from a coupon blog I read and had fun adding some personal touches to them.
We ordered a dining room table last week and it was scheduled to be in by Friday...It actually was here, but only 2 of the 6 chairs were in so we had to make do with other chairs. It wasn't ideal, but wasn't a big deal at all. It was still fun to have the table.
And the side board that goes with it! I love this piece and can't wait to organize the bins and put some fun things on top of it.
Here's my big centerpiece. I bought this to decorate my brother's hometown reception we had back in November and have found so many decorative uses ever since. I think the Easter eggs looked really good in it.
I was exhausted after everyone left, but I was thrilled to have all of my aunts and uncles and cousins (mom's side-local) here together!
