Ten on Tuesday

1. Lindsay and I went to Bounceriffic last Tuesday. We had a lot of fun except we became the surrogate babysitters for two kids who became very attached to us. I had not seen Cole in a few weeks and snapped a few pictures of him. Here's my favorite because I feel like it totally captures his boyish charm!

2. We spent a lot of time with Doug's siblings this weekend via phone conversations and birthday party for Doug's dad. I also sent some emails back and forth to my brother on Monday. Random? Maybe. But it makes me realize how much I want Katie to have a sibling one day. Those relationships are so important. I love my brother and my in-laws siblings.

3. I had a girls night out with dinner and Dear John on Saturday. I had read the book and was prepared to cry but my tears became tears of laughter at the couple behind us which consisted of a man who was hard of hearing and a woman who repeated most of the lines to him. She had also read the book and knew what was happening most of the time, so she blurted out a lot. I laughed so hard through most of the sad scenes, but it was still worth my $7.

4. I have started a new blog. It's about my bucket list. It's more of a journal for me about it, but since I can't seem to make a journal commitment, I'm using a blog. Thanks to Melissa for the inspiration to do a list and thanks to Lindsay for the inspiration to do another blog. The address is www.rachel-bucketlist.blogspot.com (Does anyone know how to help me put the actual link here?)

5. We went bowling on Sunday for my father in law's birthday. I got a 6 pound ball and let Katie help me throw it down the lane. Except it wasn't my turn. It was Doug's. 2 for 2 for ruining things that are important to Doug lately.

6. We had our "30 day" walk through at our house yesterday. They are supposedly going to come back and fix some things that were never done correctly. I will believe it when I see it. I pretty much feel the same way about Mungo Homes that I feel about Time Warner. Perhaps those companies are siblings.

7. I was home alone on Wednesday night and Thursday night with Doug being out of town. I used the opportunity to start Katie's new bedtime routine. (Thanks Jennifer for the tips.) I started letting her cry herself to sleep and she cried about 18 minutes the first night and when we put her down on Monday night (6th night of the process), there was absolutley no crying. And she has slept through the night every night since I started it. WOW! I am so refreshed.

8. Doug, Katie, and I had an impromptu picnic Saturday. We grabbed lunch at Bojangles (drive thru) and then headed to a nearby elementary school to play on the playground and eat. It was a lot of fun and I felt super spontaneous.

9. I need Spring to go ahead and spring. I can't handle the cold anymore. They are calling for more snow tonight here in Columbia. As an act of protest, I refuse to take any pictures of it.

10. In unpacking Katie's room, I found this set of prayer cards the church gave us at Katie's dedication. It is specifically for a girl's parents to pray for virtues to develop in their daughter. It has 52 of them, ideally you pray for each virtue for a week. I started it last night - this week, we are praying for Katie to develop humility. I'm going to start putting the virtue/verse on the right side of the blog weekly in case you'd like to pray for your child in the same way.

I like the idea of the virtue/verse each week. Your picnic sounds really fun. I want a bojangles picnic now too!

Rock on with the sleeping! That first night of crying is so hard but after she gets the hang of it, you wish you would have tried it earlier! Happy it is going so well.
